Current Position and Past Experience
Joseph L’Africain is currently Director for Instructional Design and Assessment at Maine Community College System. Previously, previously he was a curriculum designer with the MCCS. Prior to MCCS, he was at the University of Phoenix serving as a faculty member. He was also adjunct faculty at DePaul University, Mount Ida College, and Malcolm X College. He has worked as a freelance writer since 1998, with his work appearing in national and regional publications.

Education, Honors and Achievements
L’Africain has an Ed.S in Curriculum Studies from DePaul University, where he previously earned a Masters in Multicultural Communication. He also has a bachelor’s degree (Summa Cum Laude) in communication and journalism from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
When not designing curriculum, you can generally find Joseph on some sort of food and wine adventure with his lovely bride (Sue), doing research, or on the hunt for antique corkscrews—of which he is a passionate collector. Joseph and Sue also own Island Spirits; a wine, craft beer, and specialty foods shop in Vinalhaven, Maine.
