Current Position and Past Experience
Greg Pillar has served as Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs at Gardner-Webb University since January 2025. Previously, he served over 18 years at Queens University of Charlotte in several roles, including Professor of Environmental Science and Chemistry, Director of Preyer Honors Program, Assistant Provost for University Programs, Interim Dean of McColl School of Business, and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Pillar holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Chemistry from University of Georgia, a Master of Science in Environmental Soil Science from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from University of Minnesota.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Exploring new corners of the Carolinas with family and friends is one of Greg’s favorite ways to recharge, whether it’s a day trip to the mountains, a coastal getaway or just a spontaneous ride in his Jeep. A scuba enthusiast who admits it’s been far too long since his last dive, he still carries the curiosity and sense of adventure that drew him underwater in the first place. Greg is also a lifelong baseball fan, with a special devotion to his hometown team, the Milwaukee Brewers.
