Current Position and Past Experience
Travette is Director of Administrative & Student Support Services for the Division of Extended Learning at Houston Community College (HCC). In this role she oversees critical back office and student support processes including admissions, enrollment, compliance, internal and external auditing, financial aid, student complaint resolution, and course creation for the School of Continuing Education, Adult Education and Literacy, VAST Academy, Apprenticeship, Community Education and Corrections Education. She effectively transforms departmental teams to become more efficient by eliminating waste, improving resource utilization, shifting of paradigm thinking, and developing a system of Total Quality Management.
Prior to joining HCC, Travette was a Lean Facilitator for Invesco, Ltd., a global investment firm whose goal is to help investors worldwide achieve their financial objectives. There she led improvement projects focused on improving quality, speed and delivery, productivity, and capacity using Lean methodologies and tools.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Webster holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin as well as a Master of Business Administration from Prairie View A&M University. While at Prairie View, she was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society serving business programs and received the Student Humanitarian Award which is given to individuals who are making outstanding contributions to the University, the state of Texas and the nation. She was also receipent of the 2016 Young Alumnus Award presented by the Texas Exes Alumni Network at the University of Texas at Austin. Travette was recently presented with the Alpha Kapa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Jewel M. Thomas Visionary Leadership Award and the 1st Place Management Practice/Operations Award by the Lerning Resources Network (LERN).
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Webster is a member of NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE), Learning Resources Network (LERN), and Texas Administrators of Continuing Education (TACE). She enjoys sharing her professional expertise and unique life perspective with different audiences. Throughout the year, Travette presents at higher education conferences on the topic of team transformation through daily process improvement.
In addition to being an advocate for excellence in higher education, Webster also has a passion for promoting human welfare and social reform. Travette is the Founder of ImPatiently Waiting, Incorporated whose mission is to eliminate impatience in young people as a result of unrealistic media standards. The organization accomplishes this through mentoring, supporting every day activities, and teaching its members to recognize the beauty in each of life’s chapters while patiently wating on whatever is next. She is immediate past President of the Zeta Gamma Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a Crew Chief for Rebuilding Together Houston Volunteer Home Renovations, a Campus Volunteer for the Teen and Young Adult ministry at New Light Church, and she assists with Kid’s Meals Houston promoting their Adopt-A-Family Holiday program on an annual basis.
