Current Position and Past Experience
Julia Denholm has served as Dean of Lifelong Learning at Simon Fraser University since 2018. From 2014 to 2018, she held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Capilano University, as well as Dean of kálax-ay, Capilano’s Sunshine Coast campus. Before that, she served 20 years at Langara College in several roles, including Humanities Division Chair, English Department Chair, and English Instructor.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Julia holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Studies (2015), a Master of Arts in English (1994), and a Bachelor of Arts in English (1990) from the University of British Columbia. She also earned a diploma in Theatre Arts from Langara College (1983). Most recently, she contributed the “Canada” chapter to Leslie Cordie’s edited collection, Transition from Pedagogy to Andragogy: An International Perspective.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Julia is a settler of Scottish and Swedish ancestry. She is a mum, a spouse and a sister who divides her time between the places now known as Vancouver and Sechelt on the lands of the Coast Salish peoples. When she is not in or on the water, she enjoys roller skating, knitting socks and failing to learn new card games.
