Current Position and Past Experience
Jose Luis Santos holds the position of Vice President of Higher Education Policy and Practice at The Education Trust. Prior to taking his current role, Santos was an Associate Professor of Higher Education Economics and Finance Policy at Pepperdine University. Before that, Santos served as and Assistant Professor in the Higher Education and Organizational Change division at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. During his time at UCLA, Santos was an Affiliated Scholar of the Higher Education and Information Research Institute and an Affiliated Faculty Member of the Chicano Studies Research Center. Earlier in his career, Santos joined the University of Arizona faculty as Assistant Director of the Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Office, a Senior Institutional Researcher, and the Founding Executive Director of the Latino/o Policy Research Initiative in the College of Humanities. Santos also served as an Associate of the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education and a Fellow of The Sudikoff Family Institute for Education and New Media.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Santos earned his B.A. in Mexican American Studies and his M.A. in Educational Psychology: Measurement and Research Methodology from the University of Arizona. Santos earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education Economics and Finance Policy: Econometrics and Measurement and Research Methodology from the University of Arizona’s Center for the Study of Higher Education.
