Current Position and Past Experience
Debby Douglas is currently an instructor of Social Sciences at Montgomery Community College where here course load includes American History, American Government, World History, and Student Success Courses. Before transitioning to a full-time faculty member in the Arts & Sciences Department, she serves eight years as an adult basic education/high school equivalency instructor where she worked to help students of diverse backgrounds and varying abilities, from age 16 to 61 earn their HSE diploma. Debby has worked in various aspects of education, serving as a Pre-K Teacher, a library assistant, a drama coordinator, and a graduate assistant.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Debby holds an Education Specialist Degree in Higher Education: Adult and Developmental Education (2017) and a graduate certificate in Online Learning & Professional Development (2019) from Appalachian State University. She also holds a graduate certificate in Policy Analysis from the University of North Dakota (2015); a MA in American History from East Carolina University (2009), and a BA in History from Pfeiffer University (2004).

Debby is also a member of Phi Alpha Theta, The National Organization for Student Success, and the North Carolina Organization for Student Success.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Debby enjoys spending time with her godchildren: Caleb, Ava, Preston, Vance, and Hunter, and spoiling her dogs. She also enjoys helping her parents on their farm and is especially fond of the baby goats. She loves the North Carolina mountains, quiet nights beside the fire pit, and road trips. She also enjoys professional development and helping her colleagues learn tools and technology. She is active in her church and is passionate about Veteran’s causes and organizations.
