Current Position and Past Experience
Tim Fricker is the Interim Dean of Student Experience and Wellbeing at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). An experienced higher education and student affairs executive, he provides strategic leadership for student wellbeing, engagement, and support services at the University of Toronto Mississauga. He also serves as Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University.
Previously, Tim served as Assistant Dean, Student Wellness, Support and Success at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Prior to joining the University of Toronto, he was Dean of Students at Conestoga College and Mohawk College, where he also served as Director of Student Success Initiatives. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of leadership roles in residence life and student experience at the University of Guelph, Mount Royal University, and the University of Windsor. Alongside his executive leadership, Tim has served on the boards of the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services (CACUSS) and the Ontario Association of College and University Housing Officers (OACUHO) and conducted research focused on testing innovative student success interventions in the Canadian community college sector.
Education, Honors, and Achievements
Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Sociology from the University of Windsor, a Master of Education in Post-Secondary Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and a PhD in Higher Education (Community College Leadership) from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He has also earned certifications and developed expertise in governance, behavioral intervention, violence risk assessment, coaching and reconciliation. . His scholarship and leadership reflect a longstanding commitment to evidence-informed practice, student success, and advancing wellbeing across Canadian post-secondary education.
