Current Position and Past Experience
Rebecca Beeman is currently the Strategic Advisor to the Senior University Dean of K16 Initiatives & Adult Pathways at the City University of New York (CUNY). In this role, she plays a pivotal part in guiding strategic efforts that positively influence multiple stakeholders in the New York City community and education sectors. Prior to this, she served as the Director and Associate Director of Community Partnerships at CUNY K16 Initiatives, where she streamlined support for students to significantly increase college persistence and graduation rates, as well as advocated for equitable policy shifts and disseminated information to partners to improve NYC student outcomes.
Earlier in her career, Beeman was the Founding Director of the Y Roads Literacy Center at the YMCA of Greater New York, where she established a resource and learning center aimed at improving literacy rates among local youth. Additionally, she worked in youth outreach at Equinox, Inc., where she empowered and supported opportunity youth.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Beeman is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership Development & Change from Lehman College and is expected to graduate in 2028. She holds a Master of Social Work with a focus in Clinical Social Work from the University at Albany and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Art Therapy–Visual Arts from Russell Sage College, where she was a Kellas Scholar, a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, and an active participant in Habitat for Humanity’s Alternative Spring Break.
Additionally, Beeman holds an Executive Education Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, a comprehensive program designed to help nonprofit leaders balance organizational growth with advocating for the public good. She has also completed the Seminar in Field Instruction at LIU Brooklyn and has further enhanced her expertise through the NYC Center for Economic Opportunity Program Management Forum, where she participated in the Managing for Innovation course.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Outside of work, Beeman is an active volunteer in New York City’s youth sports development space, mentoring athletes interested in careers in the nonprofit and education sectors. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, sewing, reading, and visiting museums.
