Current Position and Past Experience
Mitch Colver is currently Vice President and Associate Provost for Engagement & Retention at American Public University System. A thought leader in the field of higher education, Dr. Colver’s professional focus has been on professional empowerment, organizational efficiency, and student success. His research has appeared in Popular Science, Discover, Slate, Smithsonian, New York Magazine, and, internationally, on Radio BBC. His prominence in the field has allowed him to serve as an online pedagogy and change-management consultant for universities across the nation and globe.
Previously, he was Vice President for Analytics Community Practice at Civitas Learning. Prior, he was Founding Director of the Center for Student Analytics at Utah State University.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Colver holds a Doctor of Education from Utah State University. He also holds a Master of Science in Psychology from Eastern Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Music from Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Mitch is father to six amazing kids (his absolute favorites!). You'll often catch him urging them to take a break from Roblox to touch grass. Together, they explore Utah’s stunning mountain trails, embark on adventures to dinosaur exhibits and theme parks, and cozy up for Ghibli movie marathons. When Mitch's travels as a research collaborator take him abroad, he makes sure to jaunt to some of the world's most iconic museums, vibrant performing arts venues, and top-tier restaurants.
