Current Position and Past Experience
Mary Beth Lakin is currently Executive Director of the Credit for Prior Learning Assessment Network of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and has been in this role since 2019. Prior, she was with the American Council on Education for close to 15 years where she served as Director of College and University Partnerships in the Center of Education Attainment and Innovation as well as Associate Director of Special Projects in the Center for Lifelong Learning. From 1997 to 2004, she was at Old Dominion University after coming from Pacific Oaks College.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Lakin holds a Master of Arts in Human Development, with a specialization in Adult Learning and College Teaching from Pacific Oaks College. She was recently appointed as a fellow in the Community College Growth Engine Fellowship Program, sponsored by the Education Design Labor to support states in developing micro-credential pathways. Lakin also serves as a member of the advisory board for the national initiative, Credential as You Go.

Lakin is a public library enthusiast and a devoted rescue puppy owner.
