Current Position and Past Experience
Mark Bernhard is currently the Vice Provost for Continuing and Lifelong Education at North Carolina State University. Previously, roles in his 28 year higher education career include serving as the associate provost for outreach and engagement at the University of Southern Indiana; the director of continuing and professional education at Virginia Tech, and as a senior conference planner and conference planner at Penn State. Bernhard has spent much of his higher education career advocating for land-grant universities with a focus on building partnerships and programs for adult learners, entrepreneurial collaboration, and making a positive difference in the lives of individuals, organizations and communities.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Bernhard received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Bucknell University, his master’s degree in sport management from The Ohio State University, and his Ph.D. in workforce education and development from Penn State. In addition to his work in higher education, Bernhard serves as a leadership coach where he also aims to make a positive difference.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Bernhard’s passions include his family, his beloved Philadelphia sports teams, and traveling the world to see new things and to see Bruce Springsteen in concert.
