Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. John Galiotos is currently Dean of Workforce Development at Southern University at Shreveport, as well a Chemistry Associate Professor (tenured). He is also President of Houston Abu Dhabi Sister Cities Association, and Board Member of the Consumer Energy Education Foundation. Some of his previous experience includes Academic Services Department Manager at ADNOC Technical Academy, Dean of the Energy and Manufacturing Institute at Lone Star College, Senior Associate Vice President of Workforce, STEM and Economic Development at Suffolk County Community College, and Professor and Division Chair of The Science and Engineering Technology Division and Founder of the Energy Institute at Houston Community College.
Dr. Galiotos also has 12 years of experience in chemical and manufacturing industries.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Dr. Galiotos holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Masters of Science from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Northeastern Illinois University.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Dr. Galiotos enjoys gardening, mountain biking, home improvements afficionado, traveling, cooking (Greek specialties) and playing basketball.
Dr. Galiotos volunteers in STEM education summer camps and annual relevant events, community cultural and economic developments and activities in (rural central Louisiana, NW Louisiana, Texas, Greece, UAE), UN world workforce development affairs, and African missions that focused on youth skills development via project learning.
