Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. Jeff Borden is an award-winning educator, executive leader and innovator with more than three decades of experience in higher education, K-12, and organizational learning. In addition to formal roles, Jeff has consulted with hundreds of institutions since 1997, finally joining Western Governors University (WGU) as its Senior Vice President and Executive Dean of the School of Education in July 2025. Before joining WGU, Dr. Borden served as Dean of the School of Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University from 2023-2025. His additional leadership roles include serving as Vice Provost of the Learning Experience at National University, as well as Chief Innovation Officer at Saint Leo University. Throughout that time, Jeff has remained a classroom professor in both adjunct and part-time roles.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Dr. Borden holds a Doctorate of Education in Leadership from Argosy University, and both a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Communication from the University of Northern Colorado.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Dr. Borden is a passionate family man, enjoying watching his own daughter start her higher education journey this past August, as well as a professionally ranked disc golfer (in the old man division, of course). If not enjoying time with the girls in his life, you’ll often find him on a disc golf course somewhere!
