Current Position and Past Experience
Christine Billings is Director of the Division of Continuing Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she leads strategy, program innovation, and student success initiatives focused on contemporary learners. Her work challenges traditional academic structures by designing flexible, relevant pathways that better align institutional strengths with the realities of diverse, multigenerational learners.
With nearly two decades of experience in higher education, she brings a systems-level perspective shaped by leadership roles across the full learner lifecycle: from recruitment and admissions through academic program design and student success. She has led the development of interdisciplinary degree programs, life design curricula, and institutional strategies that expand access, improve learner mobility, and reduce structural barriers.
Prior to joining UNO, Christine served as Assistant Dean in the College of Professional Studies at Creighton University, where she also led Summer Sessions and directed the university’s first fully online undergraduate program in Leadership Studies.
Christine is a CAEL Ambassador and has contributed to scholarship on adult learning, including co-authoring a chapter in Andragogy in Practice: Case Studies on Innovation in Adult Learning (2025).
Education, Honors and Achievements
Christine holds a Ph.D. in Education and Human Resource Studies from Colorado State University, an M.S. in Counseling, Student Affairs from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a B.A. in Psychology from Creighton University.
Under her leadership, the Division of Continuing Studies has received multiple awards recognizing innovation and impact in serving adult and contemporary learners.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Christine is a lifelong learner who enjoys traveling and creating spaces where people can connect, often through hosting, shared meals, and meaningful conversation. She volunteers with Project Pink’d, a local nonprofit supporting individuals impacted by breast cancer. She is deeply invested in coaching and mentoring others as they navigate their own growth and leadership journeys.
