Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. Catherine Chandler-Crichlow is the Dean of the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies (UofT SCS), and a Provostial Advisor for Lifelong Learning. She immigrated to Canada in 1987 and entered a Doctor of Philosophy program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. In the diverse student and academic community, she gained insights into the Canadian education system and workplace. As an Organization of American States scholar, she graduated with a Master of Education from Harvard University specializing in human development, and completed science and teacher education studies at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago.
She served as the Executive Director of Career Management and Corporate Recruiting at the Ivey Business School at Western University. Dr. Chandler-Crichlow has also held several executive leadership roles, including President of 3C Workforce Solutions, Executive Director of the Centre for Excellence in Financial Services Education, and Associate Vice-President of Education and Training at TD Bank Financial Group.
In addition to over 25 years working within the financial services sector, Dr. Chandler-Crichlow has been an advisor to different levels of government, both as a member of the federal Advisory Panel on Canada’s International Education Strategy, and as a member of the External Advisory Committee on Inclusion and Diversity of the Ontario Public Service.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Dr. Chandler-Crichlow holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, a Master of Education from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of the West Indies. She is a specialist in the area of the changing nature of work, having completed her doctorate on the topic of curriculum development and technology-mediated distance education.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
With her human development background, Dr. Chandler-Crichlow has made notable contributions including memberships such as The Ontario Public Service (OPS) Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board; the Partnership and Planning Table: Ontario’s Highly Skilled Workforce Strategy; and the Federal Advisory Panel on Canada’s International Education Strategy.
As an advocate for immigrants, she was Board Chair of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council. She received the University of the West Indies Toronto Vice Chancellor’s Award for her community contributions, and for the 50th Independence Anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago, she was named as one of the top 50 members of the Trinidad & Tobago Distinguished Diaspora in Canada. Catherine was also selected by The Philanthropist as one of Canada’s leaders in the non-profit sector. These accolades attest to her passion for inclusive excellence in working with individuals, communities, and organizations.
