Angela Schmiede | Vice President of Student Success and Strategic Planning, Menlo College

Current Position and Past Experience
Angela Schmiede has over 25 years of experience supporting college student success in the areas of experiential learning, career services, academic advising, tutoring, student affairs, international education, retention, and institutional effectiveness. Her current roles at Menlo College include serving as Vice President for Student Success & Strategic Planning and WSCUC Accreditation Liaison Officer. Angela began her tenure at Menlo in 2013 as Director of Internships, where she and her team built an academic internship program that was awarded the 2019 Outstanding College Work Experience & Internship Program Award by the California Internship & Work Experience Association. Previously she served as Associate Executive Director and Director of Education at Earth Advantage Institute and taught undergraduate courses at Stanford University and Vanderbilt University.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Angela earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education and an M.A. in Sociology from Stanford University. She also has an M.Ed. in Human Resource Development from Vanderbilt University.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Angela is actively engaged in the community, with a commitment to supporting college access for historically excluded students. She is the Past President of the Rotary Club of Menlo Park and a Rotary Scholar Mentor; has served on the board of Foundation for a College Education; and represents Menlo College in the Silicon Valley Equity Forward Anchor Network. On the weekends you can find her hiking on the Sonoma County Coast with her family or refining her skills as an accidental gardener.
