Current Position and Past Experience
Abram (Abe) Hedtke is Executive Director for Professional and Continuing Education at St. Cloud State University and has been in the position since January 2023. Previously, he was Director of Instructional Technology at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Hedtke has been a lead facilitator for professional development, a continuing education instructor and adjunct faculty in psychology and multicultural studies courses for the University of Minnesota.
Prior to his work in higher education, he was a learning systems administrator and instructional coach at Hmong College Prep Academy. In a career spanning more 20 years, Hedtke began his professional career as a secondary educator where his passion for equity, accessibility and learner-centric pedagogy began.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Hedtke holds a Master of Arts in Education Differentiated Instruction from Concordia University-St. Paul and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from University of St. Thomas. He is a Qualified Administrator in Intercultural Development Inventories (IDI) and a Certified Evaluator in Quality Matters. In 2021, Abram was the recipient of the Employee Recognition Award at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Abram is an avid soccer player, coach for youth soccer and fan of the MN United and MN Aurora Football clubs. When not playing soccer, Abram and his family are outside hiking state and national parks, or curled up with a good science fiction novel. Additionally, Abram serves as co-chair on the UPCEA Policy Committee, is an active member of local advisory groups and is an equity and anti-racist advocate in the community.
