Current Position and Past Experience
Nanette Swarthout is a human resources instructor with the School of Business at Western Governors University. She joined WGU with more than 20 years of corporate and educational experience and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in management and human resources to adult learners for over a decade. Swarthout has served as Vice President of Human Resources in the healthcare industry, Director of Employment, Employee Relations, and director of Training in the airline, insurance and software industries. She was a public commissioner on the DEAC Accrediting Commission. Swarthout currently teaches a variety of undergrad/graduate Human Resource Management courses and is enjoying her 10th year at WGU.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Swarthout earned an MBA degree from Fontbonne University and a B.S. in Communications from Illinois State University and is SPHR and SHRM-SCP certified. She has been the recipient of DEAC’s Distance Education Award and Fontbonne Options Outstanding Faculty Award.
