Current Position and Past Experience
Joyce T. Gibson most recently served as Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs at Roxbury Community College before entering retirement. Previously, she was Associate Professor of Leadership and Organizational Studies at University of Southern Maine and Dean of Lewiston-Auburn College from 2009-2018. Prior, she served at University of Massachusetts Lowell from 1999-2008 as tenured faculty and in several administrative roles. Her work straddled academic and student affairs with a focus on increasing student success, sustaining community parternships and elevating social justice.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Gibson earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Educational Leadership and Administration from University of Florida and a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University. Her undergraduate degree in Psychology was completed at Howard University in the District of Columbia. Recent recognitions include induction into the 32md Maine Women's Hall of Fame, serving as faculty in Maine's New Leadership Institute and providing leadership workshops for Community Health Workers in Massachusetts.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Serving others has always been a family tradition and Gibson's service ranges from board memberships for the Red Cross, ACLU, Northest Committee of the American Friends Service, to charter membership in the Greater Boston chapter of the National Council of Negro Women. Beyond volunteering, she is passionate about reading and cooking.
