David Seidl is currently Vice President of Information Technology and CIO at Miami University and is a best selling security certification author who has published over 20 books. David leads an award-winning IT organization that has consistently received recognition as a Best Place to Work in IT, and which has won CIO 100 awards for innovative technology solutions. Prior to his current role he was at the University of Notre Dame for over a decade. Some of his roles there include Senior Director of Campus Technology Services, Director of Information Security and Information Security Program Manager.

Seidl holds a Master of Liberal Studies degree in Information Security and bachelor of science in Communication Technology from Eastern Michigan University, and holds multiple information security certifications.

David loves to acquire new skills and to make things: He's a cook, a woodworker, leatherworker, and budding blacksmith just to name a few ways he enjoys creating. He is heavily involved with EDUCAUSE, higher education IT’s non-profit association where David serves as a Board officer, and volunteers as a mentor and with our local library’s Friends of the Library.
