Current Position and Past Experience
April Paschall serves as the Senior Associate Director in the Division of Continuing Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In this role, she leads strategic initiatives that enhance academic programs, expand access for today’s modern learner, and drive innovation in teaching and learning.

Prior to her current role, she served as the Assistant Director of Academic Affairs in the Division of Continuing Studies, where she played a key role in program development and academic operations. April began her career at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where her experience across a variety of roles sparked her passion for supporting adult learners. She later served at Doane University, ultimately as Director of Institutional Effectiveness, guiding assessment, accreditation, and data-informed decision-making efforts before returning to UNO.

Throughout her 20+ years in higher education, April has successfully created and implemented strategies to improve educational and operational standards, researched critical issues in higher education, and developed curricula and programs through forward-focused vision and strategy. She has a deep passion for serving learners through a commitment to designing pathways where all learners have pathways to success.

Education, Honors and Achievements
April holds a Bachelor of Science in Art from Doane University, a Master of Arts in Textile, Clothing, and Design from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

In 2024, she received the Outstanding Distance Learning Adult Educator Award from the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education. This national recognition highlights her transformative contributions in online education and adult learning. Her work includes redesigning the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies degree program, creating foundations and capstone seminar courses, and mentoring part-time instructors to enhance teaching excellence.

April co-authored a chapter in the 2025 Andragogy in Practice: Case Studies on Innovation in Adult Learning, contributing scholarship focused on activating adult learning theory through learner-centered curricular design.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Outside of her professional work, April enjoys engaging in creative outlets, exploring music venues with her family, and finding ways to integrate curiosity into her daily life. She is passionate about supporting intergenerational community building and helping others design well-lived lives across the lifespan. Once plant-challenged, she now enjoys caring for a thriving collection of houseplants – an everyday reminder that growth is always possible.
