Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2012, Anant Agarwal has been the President of edX. He concurrently serves as a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a position he has held since 1988. Agarwal also served as the Director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory during his tenure at MIT.
In 2005, Agarwal founded the Tilera Corporation, of which he remains a Board Member today.

Agarwal earned his Bachelor Degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Agarwal’s work on Organic Computing was selected by Scientific American as one of 10 World Changing Ideas in 2011, and he was named one of 12 Bostonians changing the world by Boston Globe Magazine in 2012. He hacks on WebSim, a web-based circuits laboratory, in his spare time.
