Stephen Burnett | Managing Director, Executive Education Collective

Current Position and Past Experience
Stephen Burnett currently serves as the Managing Director of the Executive Education Collective. He is a Professor Emeritus at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he spent over 30 years as a Professor of Strategy. He also served for eight years as the Kellogg School’s Associate Dean of Executive Education.

For many years Burnett taught marketing, business/ corporate strategy and general management in the School’s part-time, full-time, and Executive MBA programs. Burnett has also advised several well-known firms on marketing and strategy issues such as: Allstate Insurance, Bank of America, General Electric, and Hewlett Packard.

At the Kellogg School, Burnett designed, directed, and taught in dozens of open enrollment and custom executive programs including the Advanced Executive Program and the Kellogg Management Institute. To help custom executive programs reach their full potential for changing organizations, he founded and leads the Executive Education Collective. The Collective is a global network of educators, management advisors and senior executives devoted to helping organizations envision and execute new strategies through executive education within the framework of a comprehensive change process.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Burnett earned his BS degree summa cum laude in Marketing Management from Christian Brothers University. Burnett later earned his MBA in Marketing and his PhD in Business Administration from Indiana University. His doctoral areas of concentration were marketing, econometrics and mathematical psychology.

He was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma as graduate student and holds the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key. While a doctoral student, he was the E. W. Kelley Research Fellow.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Burnett and his wife Deborah are avid theatre-goers and enjoyed traveling the world often in conjunction with his executive teaching and consulting work.
