Current Position and Past Experience
Tara Vasold Fischer currently serves as the Associate Dean of Academic Advising & College Dean and Coordinator of the Community College Partnership Initiative at Dickinson College.
While exploring the world of politics during a brief stint as a staff member for a U.S. congressman, Tara developed an interest in the intersection of public policy and personal life. As a graduate student at Northwestern University, she built on her background in psychology but shifted her focus into public policy and administration, with a concentration in educational policy and how it impacts the individual and community. Tara is passionate about access and navigation of choice within higher education. She spent over a decade in the Office of Admissions at Dickinson prior to transitioning into the role of associate dean of academic advising.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Fischer graduated Phi Beta Kappa Kappa and magna cum laude with a BA in Psychology in at Dickinson College(2002). She received her Masters in Public Policy and Administration at Northwestern University (2017).
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Fischer serves as President of Dickinsonās chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the alpha of PA and a member of the Cumberland Valley Economic Development Brand Advisory Council.
Originally from the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, she enjoys outdoor adventures with her son, family and friends. Sheās also an artisan bread maker and baked over 2,000 loaves in the past 15 years. As a former college athlete, Tara can still be found on the volleyball court, attempting to relive the glory days.
