Shonda Gibson | Associate Vice Chancellor, Texas A&M University System

Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. Shonda Gibson is the Associate Vice Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System, a role she took on in 2018. This followed two years as Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Research at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Dr. Gibson served in a variety of roles at TAMU-Commerce including: Interim Vice President for Student Access and Success; Executive Director of the Texas Institute for Competency Based Education; Accreditation Liaison for the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness and Research; and Executive Director for Global Learning and Quality Enhancement Plan.

With over 25 years of corporate and industry experience in the fields of leadership, operations management, recruiting, training and team development, Gibson served on the Texas Affordable Baccalaureate (TAB) Program Advisory Committee, where she helped create and implement the state’s first competency-based degree offered by an accredited public institution. She also led the Institute for Competency-Based Education (ICBE), a collaborative focused on experimentation and research to advance the understanding of competency based education.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Dr. Gibson holds four degrees from Texas A&M University-Commerce including, a bachelor degree, a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Psychology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Shonda is passionate about travel and exploring unique destinations, sampling diverse cuisines, and cooking for/with family and friends.
