Current Position and Past Experience
Roy Vanderford is Director of Strategic Solutions at the Center of Workforce Innovations. In this role, Vanderford provides technical assistance, leadership development, management tools and short-term management for special projects and organizational transitions for state and local workforce development organizations. Vanderford also manages a partnership of K-12 schools, colleges, and employers in Northwest Indiana aimed at college and career readiness and increasing the adult higher education attainment rate in the region.

Prior to joining the Center of Workforce Innovations in 2011, Vanderford was Senior Vice President at Thomas P Miller and Associates and Senior Partner at Corporation for a Skilled Workforce. Considered a leading expert on workforce board development throughout the country, Vanderford has worked in over 35 states to build state, regional, and local strategies to link workforce, economic development, and educational action plans. He has served as CEO of local workforce boards in Indianapolis (IN), Louisville (KY), and Evansville (IN), and as a consultant with workforce development and educational organizations in multiple states. Since the late 1970s, Vanderford has taken on national leadership and training roles in the workforce development field through affiliations with the US Department of Labor, the US Conference of Mayors, and the National Association of Workforce Boards.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Roy Vanderford earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Indiana University Bloomington. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Roy Vanderford is an avid reader of mystery/thriller books, a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan, a mostly losing manager of his fantasy football team, and an active participant in the lives of his three grandchildren who leave nearby.
