Robert Wagner | Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Utah State University

Current Position and Past Experience
Robert Wagner is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Utah State University. Previously, he was Vice President of Academic and Instructional Services. He is responsible for many aspects of the student life cycle at USU including recruiting, admissions, financial aid, the registrar’s office, student retention and completion. He also oversees all instructional methods, faculty development, academic innovation and classroom support. He administers a vast network of academic delivery across the state of Utah and beyond.

Prior to this, Wagner held several administrative positions at USU including leadership within the Provost’s Office and the university’s Statewide Campus System as well as Executive Director for Distance Education. Prior to USU, Wagner served as a Special Assistant to the President, focused on government relations and special projects for SUNY-Albany.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Wagner obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University. He earned his Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Utah. Wagner went on to complete his PhD in political science (public policy and public law) from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at SUNY-Albany.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Wagner is very involved in his community. Among many activities, he serves as chair of the governing board for the Utah Education and Telehealth Network. He also enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with his family.
