Current Position and Past Experience
Rebecca Andersen is the Director of the Student Veteran Advantage Program at New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies (NYU-SCPS).
Andersen has worked in various capacities of higher education since 2006, notably at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina as the Assistant Director of the Center for Continuing Education and at Brooklyn College as the Veterans Outreach and Educational Assistant Coordinator. While completing her Master’s degree, she became employed with the non-profit program Home Again: Veterans and Families Initiative and was the co-creator of a six-hour Military Cultural Competency Certificate Training Program.
Once Andersen completed graduate school, and with the desire to get back into higher education; in June of 2012 she began employment at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate as the Associate Director of Career Management.
Her areas of expertise to date are veteran and non-traditional student issues as well an extensive background in the areas of recruitment, admissions, advising, event planning. marketing, advertising and career counseling.
Education, Honors and Achievements
After receiving and honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Rebecca completed her undergraduate degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia in Administration of Justice, with a focus in Social Work and Counseling in 2005.
In 2012, she received her M.S. in Education, Educational Policy and Leadership Studies in Higher Education from Hofstra University.
