Lisa LaVigna | Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships & Alliances, Excelsior College

Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2011, Lisa LaVigna has served as the Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships & Alliances at Excelsior College.

LaVigna joined Excelsior after four years at New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Albany. She started out as a Strategic Account Manager for key partners in the Northeast Region. She then served for two years as a Center Manager and the School Director for New Horizons of Albany, New York. LaVigna had previously spent over 20 years working in adult education and career training with an emphasis on helping adults gain skills and change careers. She is passionate about the power of education in changing lives. She is recognized for building strong partnerships between academic institutions and corporate or government partners.

Education, Honors and Achievements
LaVigna earned her B.S. in Public Administration from the State University of New York –Albany and a M.B.A. with a focus on Management Information Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. LaVigna is on track to earn her Doctorate in Management in Community College Administration from University of Maryland’s University College in 2018 where she is focusing her dissertation on transfer from community colleges to four-year institutions.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
LaVigna is an active hiker, kayaker and wild flower gardener, spending her summer weekends in the Adirondacks. She participates in several community organizations including the Maywood Grove Association where she leads the By-Law Committee. She was a Team Manager for Guilderland Travel Soccer and Team Parent for Little League. She was active in the Guilderland Girls Soccer Booster Club and Treasurer of the Boys Volleyball Booster club. She participates in fundraising and events for several charities including Juvenile Diabetes, Toys for Tots and Koinonia Primary Care, a free clinic serving Albany’s inner city.

LaVigna serves on the Board of Trustees for the Community College Baccalaureate Association (CCBA).
