Current Position and Past Experience
Julie White currently serves as the Interim Provost and Senior Vice President at Onondaga Community College, one of the colleges of the State University of New York (SUNY) System. White joined OCC in 2013 as Vice President of Student Engagement and Learning Support. White also teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Education at St. John Fisher College. Previously, White held the position of Director of Centers for Student Engagement and Academic Advisement at Cayuga Community College, and from 2005-2013, White worked at Monroe Community College as the Assistant Director of Student Services, where she also served as an Adjunct Instructor in Sociology. Prior to joining the Monroe Community College staff, White worked at Rochester Institute of Technology, serving in roles including Director of Human Subjects Research and Coordinator of the Women’s Center.
Education, Honors and Achievements
White earned her M.Ed. in Counseling from Xavier University and her Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from University of Rochester.
She is a Fellow of the American College Health Association and was recently recognized with the YWCA Diversity Achievers Award and Ann Felton Multicultural Leadership Award. She was selected to participate in the 2014 Executive Leadership Institute of the League for Innovations in the Community College and AACC.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
White serves on the boards of the Everson Museum of Art and of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York. She also remains active in academic research conferences and publications, presenting research about community college students, access and success for under-represented populations, and financial aid policy.
When not engaged in professional or community service, you can find her-often along with members of her family-on the trail, on the yoga mat, or in her kitchen, where she explores vegan cheese-making, raw food, and other plant-based delicacies.
