Current Position and Past Experience
Julie Shankle is currently Executive Director of Continuing Education at the University of Central Florida. Prior, she served adult learners at Florida Institute of Technology for 15 years. Her most recent role was Vice President of Online and Off-Campus Education. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE). Before her career in continuing higher education, Shankle worked in performing arts management at university and regional theatres.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Shankle holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Management from Florida State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts and English from Centre College in Kentucky. She has been awarded the Meritorious Service Award from ACHE, as well as the Continuing Education Leadership Award from ACHE’s South Region. During her time at Florida Tech, she received the Joan Bixby Award for enhancing the climate for women’s participation and development on campus, a President’s Award for University Excellence, and a Most Valuable Panther Award. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honor society.
