Current Position and Past Experience
With more than 30 years’ experience in evaluation research, database design, institutional research, and strategic planning, John Cosgrove is a proven leader in using research and evaluation to improve student learning outcomes for colleges and universities and partnered with colleges to help them improve their strategic planning, assessment, internal research and data systems. As Senior Partner at Cosgrove and Associates, Cosgrove heads up third-party evaluations for multiple Department of Labor and National Science Foundation-funded projects. These projects include transformative change efforts associated with career pathway development, economic & workforce development, employer engagement, developmental education redesign, technology-enabled instruction, and intrusive student support practices. In addition, Cosgrove serves on EvaluATE's National Visiting Committee (NVC) to support the continuous improvement of evaluation efforts.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Cosgrove holds an MA in Sociology. He has published several works on his approach to using assessment and evaluation to improve student learning outcomes, including “Designing Effective Assessment: Principles and Profiles of Good Practice” (Banta, Trudy 2009), and “Assessment is More Than Keeping Score: Moving From Inquiry Through Interpretation To Action” (League for Innovation: Learning Abstracts 12.2, 2009). Current research efforts relate the analysis and individual and community economic impact of short-term, industry developed credentials, as well as the development college and employer partnership connected to community and employer workforce development.
