Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2014, Jennifer Sparrow has served as the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning with technology at The Pennsylvania State University. Prior to her current role at Penn State, Sparrow spent five years as the Director of Emerging Technologies and New Ventures at Virginia Tech. This followed two years as the Assistant Director of eLearning at Florida Gulf University. For more than 15 years, Sparrow has championed the use of technology to create active and engaged learning experiences.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Sparrow earned her BA from Smith College in 1993. In 1998, she earned her MEd from Florida Gulf Coast University. She earned her EdD from the University of Central Florida in 2002. Sparrow was awarded the 2013 EDUCAUSE Rising Star Award and was in 2014 was named a Center for Digital Education Top 30 Technologists, Transformers, and Trailblazers.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Outside of work, Sparrow serves on the Smith College Alumnae Association Nominating Committee. She enjoys photography and knitting. She has three children that keep her busy and connected with the latest technologies.
