Current Position and Past Experience
Since 2013, Jen Hutton has served as Project Director of Online Learning and Research at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). In this capacity, Hutton works with faculty and staff to develop, produce and deliver short- and long-term educational projects: major projects include designing, developing and launching 15 massive open online courses on Coursera and Kadenze, and designing and delivering five hybrid courses for professional animators in partnership with Animà Estudios in Mexico City. Hutton is the Project Lead for CalArts’ Open Learning Initiative, as well as for related online projects.
Concurrently, Hutton is a freelance writer and editor, whose essays and critical reviews have appeared in C Magazine, Canadian Art, Magenta Magazine and Artforum.com.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Hutton earned her MFA in Writing from California Institute of the Arts, and a BA in Studio Art from the University of Guelph.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
Jen is a drummer in several Los Angeles-area bands, and enjoys getting out on her bike from time to time.
