Jane LeClair | Chief Operating Officer, Washington Center for Cybersecurity Research & Development
Current Position and Past Experience
Dr. Jane LeClair is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Washington Center for Cybersecurity Research & Development. This followed three years as the CEO of the National Cybersecurity Institute at Excelsior College in Washington, DC. In 2008, LeClair joined Excelsior College as Program Director for Technology Programs. She became an Associate Dean in 2009 before taking on the role of Dean of Excelsior College’s School of Business and Technology, which she held for four years. Prior to her joining Excelsior College, Dr. LeClair had a twenty year career in the nuclear industry where she served in numerous managerial positions and continues to collaborate with the International Atomic Energy Administration (IAEA).
Education, Honors and Achievements
Dr. LeClair has earned seven academic degrees throughout her educational career. She earned her BSc in Nuclear Technology from the University of the State of New York and her BA in Psychology and Social Services from Syracuse University. She earned her MSE in Vocational and Technical Education from SUNY Oswego, her MSc in Cybersecurity from Excelsior College and a second MSc in Organizational Psychology from Capella University. She earned her MBA from City University and completed her EdD in Adult and Continuing Education Administration at Syracuse University.
Dr. LeClair recently received the prestigious Robert L. Long 'Training Excellence Award' from the American Nuclear Society. She has authored numerous books and magazine articles relating to nuclear training, cybersecurity and women in technology. Her latest book, Protecting Our Future: Educating a Cybersecurity Workforce, Vol.2, was recently published.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
When time permits, Dr. LeClair enjoys travel and experiencing new cultures, reading historical novels, and has a keen interest in automobiles. She is also an advocate for women in technology and has established the Dr. Jane LeClair Scholarship for Women in Technology with a focus in cybersecurity at Excelsior College.
