Jamie Holcomb | Associate Dean of Faculty and First-Year Experience, Southern New Hampshire University

Current Position and Past Experience
Jamie Holcomb currently serves as the Associate Dean of Faculty of First Year Experience at Southern New Hampshire University. Holcomb started at Southern New Hampshire University as an Online Adjunct Faculty Member, and went on to serve as a Team Lead and Learning Community Facilitator for online faculty and students. Holcomb has taught as an Adjunct Faculty Member for a number of other higher education institutions, including Viterbo University, Park University, Ocean County College, Walsh University and the University of Phoenix.

In earlier years, Holcomb served as a Band Director for Highland Local Schools, South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools, Okemos Public Schools and Wadsworth City Schools. She also served as an adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association for several years.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Holcomb earned a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from Kent State University and a Master’s of Music in Music Education from Michigan State University. Holcomb completed post graduate coursework in Education with an emphasis on Higher Education Leadership at Northcentral University and has held a Professional Teaching License since 2000 from the Ohio Department of Education.

In 2011, Holcomb performed with her ensemble at the Ohio Band Director’s Conference and in 2013, she performed with her ensemble at the Ohio Music Education Association Conference. In addition, in 2013, Holcomb received the Crystal Apple Teaching Award.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Holcomb has been an active participant in several music education organizations such as the National Association for Music Education and the Ohio Music Education Association. She is also a member of the Online Learning Consortium.

In addition to professional organizations, Jamie is an active gardener. She is currently a member of the American Hemerocallis (Daylily) Society and the Richmond Area Daylily society and hybridizes daylilies in her spare time.
