Elizabeth Davidson | Senior Researcher for Educational Transformation, Ithaka S+R

Current Position and Past Experience
Elizabeth Davidson is a Senior Researcher on the Educational Transformation team at Ithaka S+R, a not-for-profit research and consulting service of ITHAKA. At Ithaka S+R, Davidson focuses on increasing college access and success for low-income students and evaluating the implementation of evidence-based strategies to improve student learning outcomes. Davidson also co-founded ScriptEd, a not-for-profit that provides coding instruction and paid internship opportunities to students in 37 NYC high schools. She currently serves as ScriptEd’s Secretary of the Board.

Previously, Davidson served as the Deputy Chief Strategic Officer for the Division of Talent, Labor and Innovation at the New York City Department of Education. Davidson started her career as a high school math teacher in Philadelphia, PA with Teach for America and later moved on to teach teachers at Hunter College and direct the North Star Academy College Preparatory High School summer school program.

Davidson has also consulted on data strategy and analysis, program evaluation, and program design and implementation for various educational organizations, including the NYC Department of Education, the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi, and the Education Achievement Authority in Detroit, Michigan.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Davidson earned her BBA in Economics from the University of Georgia and her MSEd in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania. In fall 2016, Davidson will earn her PhD in Economics and Education from Columbia University. Her doctoral dissertation is focused on the impact of federal K-12 school accountability policy on school turnaround strategies and school closure.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Davidson is simultaneously working full-time, finishing a dissertation, and planning a wedding with her fiancé, Tim. In her spare time, she likes to enjoy the city, spend time with Tim and friends, and travel. She enters the Hamilton lottery daily.
