David Troutman | Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Research and Advanced Analytics, University of Texas System

Current Position and Past Experience
David Troutman was appointed Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Research and Advanced Analytics in April, 2016. He provides leadership in rethinking the systems and processes used to gather data and to distill it into information that decision-makers can use in effective and efficient ways. He conducts system-wide research studies (quantitative and qualitative) in support of UT System strategic goals. Dr. Troutman directs a team of researchers who provide analytical support (descriptive and predictive analyses) for the System’s internal and external stakeholders.

Prior to taking on his current role, Dr. Troutman was Director of Strategic Initiatives and Assistant Director of Institutional Research at the University of Texas System, and Associate Director for Institutional Research at the University of Texas at Austin.

Education, Honors and Achievements
David Troutman holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Oklahoma State University.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
David enjoys spending his time with his husband and two teenage daughters. As a family, they love to spend their time outdoors either hiking, biking, or boating.
