Current Position and Past Experience
CJ Wurster has been supporting and leading occupational education and workforce development programs since 2001. He has been with GateWay Community College for nearly 10 years, the last two of which he has served as the Dean of Trade & Technical Training. Prior, he worked at Dynamic Educational Systems, Inc. as a Program Manager for 3 years, and in various capacities at ResCare for 6 years.
Education, Honors and Achievements
Wurster holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he was also a captain of the men’s basketball team. He earned a Master’s Degree in Administration/Project Management from Northern Arizona University (NAU). He is a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership doctoral program at NAU, where he is in the final stages of completing his dissertation.
Personal Details and Community Involvement
When CJ is not spending time with his wife and their two daughters (age 15 and 6 months), he enjoys endurance sports. He has completed an Ironman, multiple half-Ironman races, over a dozen full marathons and many half-marathons. He also enjoys finding opportunities to get outside and enjoy the outstanding Phoenix climate….except for the summer months, where you can usually find him and his family on the beaches of southern California!
