Brendan Aldrich | Chief Data Officer, Ivy Tech Community College

Current Position and Past Experience
Brendan Aldrich is the Chief Data Officer at Ivy Tech Community Colleges, the largest singly-accredited statewide community college in the United States which educates nearly 175,000 students every year. In this role, he is responsible for enterprise-wide data and information governance and innovation that engages and empowers the institution around data-informed decision-making.

Previously, Aldrich was the Executive Director of Enterprise Information Management for City Colleges of Chicago where he led development of OpenBook, an award winning analytics and reporting system that supported the ability for thousands of faculty, staff and administrators to directly and intuitively use relevant data to support day-to-day needs and strategic objectives.

A cross-industry data innovations specialist, Aldrich has also held roles as the Director of Business Intelligence Analytics for new media start-up Demand Media, Director of Business Systems for The Travelers Companies and Director of Billing and Data Warehouse for j2 Global Communications.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Aldrich received his Bachelors degree from California State University, Los Angeles.

Aldrich's work to promote the use of intuitive, interactive and relevant data across the enterprise has been recognized with a Gartner Data & Analytics Excellence Award (Best Self-Service Analytics, 2017) for Ivy Tech Community College and a Campus Technology Magazine Innovators Award (Administrative Systems, 2014) for City Colleges of Chicago.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Born and raised in Southern California, Aldrich moved to Chicago in 2010 to spend more time with his extensive Irish family… as well as to become a Blackhawks fan, a deep-dish pizza advocate and to discover if neon green relish makes a difference (it does). He relocated to Indianapolis in 2015 and, when not immersed in technology and the latest gadgets, can usually be found on a culture crawl across Indianapolis 106 neighborhoods with his wife, Mary, and their Chinooks, Bella and Sammie.
