Accreditations Can Be Made Useful

Former Chronicle of Higher Education journalist Martin Van der Werf argues that successfully navigating higher education’s change relies on reforming accreditation to be more transparent for consumers of education.

He points out that current, “barnacle-encrusted traditions like accreditation” are too much like standardized tests and are presenting a barrier to one of the greatest strengths of American higher education; its diversity.
