Current Position and Past Experience
Walter Smith has been a consultant with Affective Learning Systems since 2004.

Prior to this, Smith worked in a number of higher education institutions across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. He spent 18 years as an Instructor and a further 16 years as a Program Development Coordinator.

Education, Honors and Achievements
Smith has earned his Diploma in Engineering, his BSc, and his BEd attending Memorial University and his MEd (Self-Directed Learning), attending St. Francis Xavier.

Personal Details and Community Involvement
Smith retired from his work as a college program designer in 2003 to pursue his lifelong interests in learning and knowledge as an independent consultant. He shares his time researching, writing and designing education programs, with volunteering, family activities and enjoying life. As a lifelong self-directed learner, he is an advocate for self-directed learning and shows by example the benefits of believing that it is never too late to learn. He has many hobbies. He started running seriously after he retired and now at 64 he is an avid runner regularly competing in provincial road races. He believes that running engages all facets of the body and mind and serves as an excellent example of continuing learning.
